I think I'm going to give Roon a go I've been a long-time JRiver user (and actually just bought the MC24 upgrade licence) but I've had some issues with the software not closing properly and their 'support' is a joke. I seem to recall I paid around £800 used at the time. They were a good price, just lucky I offered £400 cash and could collect that day There have been some upgrades since the speaker purchase Bought this last week Wednesday I've got a Marantz CD6006UKSE CD player coming to replace the 25 year old arcam, I've also been offered a roksan xerxes turntable by a guy at work but I'm on the fence with that as he wants £500 for it, though he's not in a rush to sell it as he's had it since 1985 BTW I think that £400 is a pretty good price for the Spendors - most used examples seem to go for closer to £600. handed over £400 for a pair of Spendor S6e floorstanders which cost £1600 when new Got them home, set them up and, I've spent the last 30 years listening to s t hifi, I'm utterly blown away with how good it sounds, I'm sitting here doing something I haven't don't for years, just listening to music in the dark, I feel like dragging people in from the street, have you heard how good this sounds Those Spendors are really nice sounding speakers - I've had a pair for the last 7 or 8 years driven by an ATC SIA2-150 integrated amp. I've not worked on the Meridian amp modules though are the modules interchangeable ? Can you swap left and right bass modules ? I've worked on dozens of Philips/Marantz CD players from that era with dry joints a very easy fix but occasionally time consuming. The Player it was based on had problems with Dry joints meaning the Philips and Marantz versions of the player needed fettling fairly often./\ This. Is that the tweaked player or the full blown PRO version. My BiL had the MCS but only with MM and CD Input modules and two power modules. Meridian have had trouble souring parts for the Later 200 and 500 series so have stopped supporting them. Looking for a solution at the moment.Ĭonsidering Most of that system is from the early 80's I would be surprised if it could be easily fixed. The CD player doesn't alway start, and one speaker has lost the bass, I think it’s an amp problem. Unfortunately, it's developed a couple of faults, and the only person who used to offer a repair service on these has stopped. Year ago I splashed out on a Meridian system.
